To identify the main types of glaciers
 
 

Objectives

The student should learn about:

(a) The prerequisites for glacier formation - location, temperatures, snow accumulation etc.;

(b) The process by which snow becomes glacial ice;

(c) The origins of ice caps, niche, corrie and valley glaciers.
 
 

Outcomes

The student should have knowledge and understanding of:

(a) The main types of glaciers;

(b) The formation of glaciers;

(c) Examples to use in the final examinations.
